| Barack Obama: Peacemaker |

45,000 more soldiers on tap to escalate the war in Afghanistan. Sounds like peace to me.
No doubt what has happened here is that the marketing plan to get Obama the Peace Prize had to moved up a year, because 12 months from now such an award would be impossible. If you are in the way of the US military - this is your warning.
Other sitting presidents to win the "Peace" prize: "Big stick" Teddy Roosevelt (1906) and "I'll keep our boys out of the war" Woodrow Wilson (1919).
Outside of being just a total sham, perhaps the Nobel committee's logic went something like this:
The amount of people that are being killed and will be killed by US military action on Obama's watch are projected to be less than if he was not in office. Another possibility: When things are going just smashingly in Afghanistan a year from now, the Nobel Prize people have dodged the bullet of having to make Obama share the prize with the president who started our war in Afghanistan. Without the courage of George Bush Jr. who stood up to the naysayers, Obama would not have had this chance to continue building peace in the region by force of arms.
Sidebar: The Nobel Prize committee needs to correct their previous oversight and get a posthumous award out to Joseph Stalin.
